While I listen a lot to online music, I also use Peer to Peer (P2P) programs. Napster was the most famous P2P program until it was shutdown by law suits, amongst others by Metallica.

Now Napster has turned into a subscription based service and you'll have to choose between one of the other P2P programs.

Most of these programs are used to share your files with others as well so be careful which files you make available to the rest of the world.
