Divx allows compression of video to such an extend that a full length movie easily fits on a single CDROM. As a result the download of Divx movies is quickly becoming as popular as free MP3 downloads.

The quality of divx is not as good as the quality of DVD movies. However, if your divx movie is very jerky, it is often because on older divx encoder was used. If it is very bad, just try to find a better version of the same movie.
